The corporation was named "AXIOS" in honor of Roman generalGnaeus Domitius Corbulo of late Earth history. Students at the Corbulo Academy of Navel Science honor Corbulo by exclaiming "Axios" meaning "I am worthy" in Greek. These were Corbulo's last words as he intentionally fell upon his own sword by order of Emperor Nero, who had ordered Corbulo to kill himself to prove his loyalty to the Roman Empire. Upon graduation of the Corbulo Academy of Navel Science students are granted admission into A X I O S. Only pilots of Amarr lineage apply.
